AppZero Collaborates with Microsoft to Support Windows Server

Collaboration helps enterprises adopt and realize the benefits of Windows Server 2012 and Windows Azure

AppZero, a fast, more flexible way to move server applications, announced on Monday a collaboration with Microsoft in which Microsoft is recommending AppZero for moving a variety of applications from Windows Server 2003, which reaches the end of extended support in July, 2015, to Microsoft's newer operating systems. The collaboration will help educate Systems Integrators and enterprises about the benefits of Windows Server 2012, Windows Server Hyper-V, and Windows Azure.

AppZero extracts existing applications, leaving the operating system behind, and migrates the applications to a new machine. Many applications can be moved without code changes from older operating systems to Windows Server 2012 and Windows Azure with AppZero's enterprise migration tool. AppZero will be providing support for Windows Server 2012 R2 by the end of 2013.

"Windows Server 2012 and Windows Azure deliver a consistent platform across on-premises, service provider clouds, and the public cloud," said Brian Hillger, Director of Product Marketing, Microsoft. "We are pleased to work with AppZero to help our customers take advantage of the advanced capabilities of Windows Server 2012 across virtualization, networking, and storage, as well as the openness, scalability, and flexibility provided by Windows Azure." As Windows Server 2003 approaches the end of extended support, many enterprises will want to move to a newer version of the Windows Server operating system (Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012). Some enterprises may seek to modernize and move to Windows Azure at the same time.

"We are uniquely positioned to help Microsoft customers migrate to a newer operating system because our technology separates the application from the operating system and moves only the application and its data," said Greg O'Connor, AppZero CEO. "Other approaches move the whole machine, which won't work if you're moving to a newer OS."

AppZero is the fast, flexible way to move server applications to and across any cloud or datacenter, without code change or lock-in. Encapsulating Windows applications in VM/OS-free packages; AppZero's patented software moves complex server applications with ease.  AppZero lets you modernize your infrastructure, moving from an old OS to a newer one with the click of a button - modernize and move to the cloud in one step.
